Nowadays, rights are traded in the form of rights entitlements or RE in the market. Even if you are not an original shareholder in the company, you can still buy the RE in the market and become a shareholder. Of course, the full price has to be paid in that case. Only the original allottees of the RE can sell in the open market. Once it is listed in the open market, then it is free to be traded like any other stock. You are free to buy and sell RE in market.
