That is absolutely correct. You can actually buy and sell gold ETFs on the normal stock exchange using your existing trading account and the gold ETFs are credited to your demat account on a T+2 basis. Similar arrangement works in the event of sale of gold ETFs too. Gold ETFs are actually proportional share of a gold corpus that you hold and are measured in units which is normally 1 gram of gold. For example, if the normal price in India is Rs.28,000 per 10 grams of gold, then the one gram unit will be quoting around Rs.2800 per unit. Like in the case of shares, these Gold ETFs will get credited or debited to your demat account and has no lock-in requirements.
