Today on 2nd March 2019, Congress released the 55-page manifesto. This manifesto has six sections that promise employment, economy, internal security, good governance, economically deprived sections and a life of dignity for all.
In the event of its release Congress President, Rahul Gandhi said that this manifesto is a massive step for the Congress party. He further said that the manifesto guarantees only two things i.e. wealth and welfare. That means the Congress party will bring wealth and welfare among the nation. It will primarily look after the country's real issues.
The main financial highlights of the Congress manifesto are;
Congress aims to remove 5 Goods and Service Tax (GST) slabs and bring 1 tax slab of the low rate.
In his speech, Congress President said that the party has come up with an actionable plan to create jobs. The plan is to hit 10 lakh possible jobs at the gram panchayat level. With the bid to grow employment in the country, around 22 lakh government job vacancies is guaranteed by 2020.
Special attention to farmers by preparing a separate Budget for them.
Farmers who fail to make their loan payment will not be forced to jail. According to the manifesto it will not be considered as a criminal but civil offense.
With the target of 20-25% of India's poor population. The average income that this population gets is Rs 6,000 per month. To reach the minimum income bar of Rs 12,000 per month, the Congress government would give Rs 6,000 to the family.
Further, if the family under this scheme gets Rs 7,000 per month, the Congress government would hand out Rs 5,000 to make it Rs 12,000 per month. According to the scheme, 20 % of the population is promised to the credit of around Rs 72,000 a year.
