With the tensions building up on the border and casualties in the armed conflict, the Indian business community has got together to be heard. The Confederation of All India Traders - CAIT has released a list of over 500 Chinese products to be boycotted in the light of the escalating border tensions. This list includes toys, fabrics, textiles, apparel, kitchen items, furniture, hardware, footwear, electronics, cosmetics and gift items, watches, stationery, paper etc. The CAIT pointed out that the Chinese aggression along the Ladakh border was uncalled for and against the interests of India. The CAIT has set a target to cut Chinese imports by $13 billion by December next year. India runs one of the largest trade deficits with China compared to other countries and is close to $70 billion. In many cases, price was the only factor in relying on China and CAIT wants to change that.
