Foreign portfolio investors or FPIs pumped in Rs.9300 crore into Indian markets in the first 6 trading sessions in the midst of expectations of strong third-quarter performance and a highly growth-oriented budget to be presented on 01-Feb. On Friday alone, FPIs infused Rs.6030 crore into equities. Their infusion in debt has been minimal.

Low number of COVID cases in India compared to other nations has substantially helped sentiments. India has seen the largest quantum of FPI inflows in 2020 among emerging markets. Most long term global investors have looked at India as the most attractive EM proposition. The most attractive sectors continue to be banking and information technology.
